Overview
Allows parents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live in Australia permanently (non-contributory and contributory streams).
Eligibility Requirements
Meet the 'balance of family' test — at least half your children live in Australia, or more of your children live in Australia than in any other single country.
Have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen able to sponsor you.
Sponsor meets the Assurance of Support requirement.
Meet health and character requirements (health assessments can be significant for older applicants).
The non-contributory (103) stream has a much longer queue than the contributory (143) stream, which requires a higher second instalment fee.
